In Jars of Clay

In Jars of Clay is the author's third book of devotions. In the pages of this book, Lucy Allen hopes to show the reader how easily Jesus fits into everyday life.Lucy states that her readers may be wondering about the book's title and would like to remind them that, in fact, we are all jars of clay. Our Creator fashioned man from the dust of the earth (Genesis 2:7); therefore, we are all vessels of clay.The apostle Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 4:7, "But we have this treasure in clay pots so that the awesome power belongs to God and doesn't come from us." This treasure is the Holy Spirit, Who indwells each person who accepts Jesus as their Lord.Oftentimes, clay will crack, and we as God's children may have cracks as well, but it is through our cracks that His light shines brightest. Lucy's prayer is that anyone in need of a renewal or restoration of the Spirit within themselves will find it in the pages of this devotional book. If someone does not know Jesus Christ as their Savior, the prayer is that these devotions will show her readers His love for each one of us and lead them to make a decision to follow Him, also receiving the Holy Spirit into their heart...filling their jar with His light!
