Five Generations of Christian Hunters
Five generations. One family. A century of God's bounty in the field.
For over sixty years, Russ Manney Jr. has walked the ridges and hollows of the Pennsylvania Wilds with a rifle, a bow, and an unshakable faith. What began with his grandfather's hunting stories from the 1920s grew into a family legacy carried through his father, his own decades afield, and now his children and grandchildren.
Five Generations of Christian Hunters is more than a collection of deer, turkey, bear, and elk hunts -- though there are plenty of those, told with the vivid detail only a lifelong outdoorsman can deliver. It's the story of a rustic hunting camp with no electricity or running water, where servicemen, teachers, and tradesmen gathered each Monday after Thanksgiving and discovered that faith in Christ mattered more than what separated them.
Russ spent thirty-five years as an educator and football coach in Wellsboro, Pennsylvania and Mansfield University, but it was in the timber -- and in a dorm room on a night that changed everything -- that his life was truly shaped. With humor, humility, and unflinching honesty about his own journey to faith, he shows how hunting became a doorway to something far more lasting than a trophy on the wall.
If you've ever hunted with your dad, taught your kids to love the outdoors, or wondered how faith and family carry across generations, these stories will feel like your own.
Gather the family, settle by the fire, and step into five generations of God's bounty.
