Coalwood

Coalwood: Almost Heaven (But Not Quite!) is a true story set in a small coal-mining town in southern West Virginia during the late sixties and early seventies.

Growing up there was an interesting, unique experience. The story follows a young boy and his three best friends through family mishaps, sibling rivalries, and the kinds of misadventures boys invent while trying to stay out of trouble. His father worked as a troubleshooter in the mines, and his mother was a stay-at-home Christian mom with her hands full raising five rowdy kids.

These country boys loved camping, fishing, hunting, scrapping, playing baseball, and, of course, spending time with girls. This collection captures their humor, their detours, and the small victories that helped them make it through childhood.
