Beyond Deliverance
Beyond Deliverance is a literary war novel about a man haunted by the unreturnable past, a friend now enemy, and the unbearable clarity of knowing precisely what war has made of both. Set during the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, Captain Zhenia Kostyuk, commander of a Ukrainian Neptune missile unit near Odesa, is ordered to target the Russian flagship Moskva, a strike that would forever change naval warfare and alter the destiny of a nation. But aboard that ship may be Tosha Katz, Zhenia's closest friend growing up, a boy who followed his mother to Russia years ago and vanished into another life. As Zhenia prepares to carry out the order, memory and duty converge in a moment that will follow him long after the flashes of weaponry fade. Beyond Deliverance is a meditation on friendship, loyalty, and the terrible reality that emerges when morality, humanity, and war collide.
