FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Royalties

What are the royalty rates for each book sold?

The royalty rates for your book sales can vary depending on the format and may be subject to change due to factors such as the cost of paper and printing. For a comprehensive understanding of royalty rates for paperbacks, hardcovers, eBooks, and audiobooks, we recommend consulting with your Literary Agent or Publication Specialist. It’s important to note that you will initially receive 100% of the profit from each sale until you have recouped your entire publishing investment. After reaching that point, we retain a royalty fee of 50 cents per book sold.

How am I paid my royalties?

Royalties are calculated on a calendar quarter basis and will be paid in United States Dollars (USD) within ninety (90) days after the end of each calendar quarter. The timing of the actual receipt of the payment by the author may occur after these issuance dates. Royalties will be paid via checks. A valid and IRS-verified TIN must be provided before we can legally remit royalty proceeds to you.

Will you send me a 1099 to report additional income from royalty payments?

If you earned more than $10.00 in royalties within a fiscal year, we will automatically send you a 1099 statement. The 1099 reports your additional royalty income during the first, second, and third quarters of the current year and the fourth quarter of the previous year. It is the form you need to use to report taxes showing additional earnings or contractual work.

Authors who have any royalties withheld (due to payment threshold) during the past calendar year will receive a 1099-MISC form.

Can I access information about who ordered my book?

To ensure privacy, we are unable to share specific details about individuals who have ordered your book. Additionally, the availability of such information may vary depending on the purchase platform. However, your royalty statement will provide you with insights into the number of books sold.

What should I do if I have not received my royalty statement yet?

If you have yet to receive your royalty statement as expected, we recommend reaching out to your Publication Specialist or our dedicated author support team. They will assist you in addressing any concerns or inquiries regarding your royalty statement.
